Pioneer hosts freshman team jamboree

Pioneer High School’s gridiron was full of freshmen Saturday morning as three football teams competed in the annual Freshman Team Jamboree.
The athletes from Pioneer, Lincoln and Silver Creek High Schools are part of a program that allows much more than a handful of freshman to play football each fall. In many cases, the frosh/soph teams are made up mostly of sophomores, which means 40 or so freshmen mostly sit on the bench. That doesn’t happen with these teams.

Air car of 1932 reborn with high tech engineering
Vehicle currently in development requires no fuel, no external charging

In 1932, J.M. Custer of Piggott, Ark. had an idea for a car that would run on compressed air.
He not only built the car, but it actually ran. He used an engine that was the result of six years of research by Roy J. Meyers, which resembled a radial airplane motor in appearance. It was mounted upright in the same space occupied by gasoline motors in standard cars. Read more... |
