Bands, 21-gun salutes, politicians
and crowds
San Jose’s annual Veteran’s Day Parade took place on Sunday, Nov. 11. It featured marching bands, veterans from previous and current wars as well as other veterans portraying soldiers from the Civil War and World War I.
Among the participants were local politicians, Mayor Chuck Reed and several council members including District 10’s Nancy Pyle seated in a convertible. Pyle said she is “…deeply honored to have participated in San Jose’s Veterans Day Parade. So much time and effort has been taken to ensure that this is an event that truly does justice to the men and women who have heroically served our country in the past and as well as the present.”

Talking to teens about driving
Community forum offers strategies on safe driving for teens

Teenage driving was the focus of a community forum at the Almaden Community Cen-ter on Oct. 24.
“We’re here tonight for a very serious subject—teen-age driving,” said District 10 Councilmember Nancy Pyle.
The forum, “How to Keep Your Children Safe—Talking to Teens about Driving,” provided parents with information and tools to create effective dialogues with their teens about safe driving.
