A born storyteller leaves a WWII legacy

On Jan. 6, one day shy of what would have been his 86th birthday, friends, family and fellow soldiers gathered together at Almaden Valley United Church of Christ to pay tribute to a fallen comrade.
Almaden lost one of its own, Major Dwight Near, a 23-year resident who will be remembered by many as a born storyteller with a generous smile, an even bigger heart, and a pretty mean golf swing.

| Show must go on for grieving actor
Tickets still available for ‘Odd Couple,’ which benefits Pioneer High School Drama Department

News over the weekend of the death of “Odd Couple” lead actor Brian Adam’s mother could have sent the production into a tailspin. But in the tradition of great actors throughout time, Adams is forging ahead with the show, which he will perform in honor of his late mother Pauline.
