Winter ‘hurricane’ wreaks havoc

It seems every other year, Mother Nature sends a New Year storm to greet the Bay Area and this year proved no different. On Friday, Jan. 4 a huge storm with heavy rain and hurricane force winds visited San Jose resulting in downed power lines, broken trees and damage throughout the area.
Many people were forced to go without power from as little as a couple of hours to nearly three days. Some were out cleaning drainage ditches or calling roofers because of leaks. Some tried to take their dogs out for walks but got drenched and nearly blown away in the process. Read more...
