Street Talk by Carol Rosen
What are your New Year’s resolutions?
(Asked at Almaden Center)
“I haven’t made any yet for this [upcoming] year. I usually wait until the very end of the year. I do try to stick by them, and I generally do follow through.”
Renee Argent, 50ish
Almaden
Co-owner of Perfect Staging
“I never really make them, partly because why do something that you wouldn’t do on a normal basis? I do plan to exercise more this year, and to commit myself to yoga.”
Debra Drljaca, 49
Almaden
Co-owner of Perfect Staging
“I make a lot of them. I hope the world becomes a better place to live in, that the educational system becomes stronger and more in that vein.”
Cynthia Parks, 50ish
Almaden
Homemaker
“I think one of them is to be a little more responsible with my money, to work out more often, to read more often and to write in my journal more often.”
Yvette Barnes, 25
Almaden
Construction project manager
“I don’t have any, but I should make some. For example, I need to take more photos, I need to work out more and I probably need to visit my friends more.”
Jennifer Will, 26
Portland, Ore.
Field organizer
“I haven’t really thought about it. It’s not generally something that I do because they are usually only temporary; you get the inspiration and then you never do it anyway.”
Randy Anderson, 46

Installs home theaters
“I don’t make New Year’s resolutions anymore because there’s too much pressure to make short-term goals.”
Derik Parman, 35
South San Jose
Installs home theaters
“I haven’t made any yet, well, usually I make a resolution to lose weight and I usually lose the weight and then gain it back. This year, I think my resolution is to sell 30 houses!”
