Generous donation to EMQ highlights Unicorn volunteer luncheon
By Marilyn Wright
Special to the Times
The Unicorn Thrift Shop had its annual volunteer Christmas party in December to celebrate a year full of hard work and wonderful profits. The volunteers met at the Joint Venture Church with the luncheon put on by Joyce Rood and Marilyn Wright. Volunteers were treated to a wonderful holiday lunch with all of the trimmings and then given gag gifts from the group’s annual Santa, Bob Fuller.

The Unicorn Thrift Shop which is located at the corner of Almaden Expressway and Redmond Avenue turns all of its profits over to the Eastfield Ming Quong . The EMQ is the leading provider of children's mental health and social services in Northern California. It services more than 5,600 seriously emotionally disturbed children and their families.
The highlight of the day was when the President Grace Longinotti presented a check to Darren DeMonsi, director of volunteer services, for $35,000. The Unicorn Thrift Shop has been able to donate $70,000 since June of our fiscal year.
The Unicorn Thrift Shop looks forward to another good year and they hope that everyone will remember that we are open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with the exception of Thursdays when the hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. We thank all of our regular customers for helping us to have a prosperous year and wish everyone a Happy New Year.
