The Fixit Team opens in Almaden

In early 2004, Chuck and Lisa Lambka found themselves without business commitments and decided to start a part-time handyman company. The original idea was to do a few small jobs a week to keep busy.

The Fixit Team held its grand opening on Dec.15 and District 10 Councilmember Nancy Pyle was there to help cut the ribbon.

To their amazement, the demand for our services quickly grew and forced them to work full time. The demand has increased every year and they have added more than 20 others, not including specialty subcontractors to meet customer needs.

“Customers were pleased with our service and their demand moved The Fixit Team from little handyman jobs to kitchen and bathroom remodeling and other larger jobs,” said Lisa. As a result, in 2006 the business became a licensed California General Contractor and works on jobs from $120 to $1,000,000. Even though the Fixit Team has grown, it will continue to do small jobs for residential as well as commercial because that’s the way it grows its business.

“We are very fortunate, our customers are building our business for us. We don’t have to advertise our services. Our new customers come from referrals to us by realtors and past customers. We are growing as quickly as we can find a train quality people,” said Lisa. “We look forward to providing our current and future customers with courteous, professional high-quality work at fair prices.”

The couple gained business experience in high-tech where Lisa worked in senior sales and marketing management positions and Chuck was more technical. He is an electrical engineer and has held CEO and COO positions. He also has been an active part-time contractor who has held licenses in now five states.

The group has a broad range of expertise that enables it to do almost all jobs entirely in house. Its large team and depth of skills allows it to handle the entire job from start to finish. This is a real asset, having only one person in charge during the entire project.

Management staff includes Chuck as president, Lisa as vice president of sales, Jane Kendal as project manager, Jerry Shrum as field supervisor, Sandy Fletcher as office manager and Darryl Reed as accounting manager.

The team opened its new office and showroom on Dec. 15 at 6155 Almaden Expressway, Suite 460. Lisa asks that anyone come visit “at our new location, we always have fresh coffee.”
