Humane
Society Silicon Valley
Holiday Blanket and Toy Drive benefits shelter animals
For three San Jose City College students, helping the homeless
at the holidays means remembering the shelter animals without a
home. They helped kick off a holiday blanket and toy drive for the
Humane Society Silicon Valley in December by organizing a drive
on campus.
The students chose Humane Society Silicon Valley (HSSV) for their
community service project for their Small Group Communications class.
Student Calvin Lindberg says the group chose HSSV because they wanted
to “make a huge impact” for a worthy cause that would
last for “a longer amount of time.”
The shelter animals at the Humane Society depend on blankets and
towels for a little extra warmth, security and comfort. Donations
can be brought to the Humane Society Silicon Valley located at 2530
Lafayette Street in Santa Clara.
HSSV is the largest animal shelter on the West Coast and more than
95 percent of the animals that are placed for adoption find new
homes. There are many ways you can assist the shelter, by volunteering,
adopting a pet, or even donating used cars or trucks to HSSV. The
auto donation program is tax deductible and the animals benefit
from the proceeds.
For more information on how you can assist, call (408) 727-3383
or go to the Web at www.hssv.org.
Send us an email ( Julie@timesmediainc.com
) or a letter describing your pet (name, age, breed–where
applicable) and where you obtained your pet (animal shelter, breeder,
friend, etc.) and any funny stories or interesting information about
your pet. Include your name, phone number, and the names of anyone
else in the household. If there are children in the household give
their ages too. Then send us a jpeg digital picture of your pet
or a ‘real' print through the mail.
