Brrrrr…Help the homeless this winter
with
City Team Ministries donations
Local realtor Maria Stich is worried about what the cold weather is doing to the less fortunate among our community, especially during the recent cold snap. That is why she is holding a donation drive for City Team Ministry out of her Almaden Valley home this month. Stich will be accepting donations from Dec. 6 through Dec. 20 from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day.
The following items are needed: blankets, sleeping bags, coats, jackets, sweatshirts, sweaters, hats and gloves of all sizes. These items can be dropped off at Stich’s home at 1433 Medallion Dr. on the corner of Medallion and Weimar, off of Redmond. “Due to the extremely cold weather these items will go to San Jose’s homeless families,” said Stich who holds a donation drive on a yearly basis. “They will be delivered to City Team Ministry’s Rescue Mission and I’ll extend the deadline if I need to. There is a great need this year.”

Almaden Kiwanis join giant interclub meeting
Betty O’Connor, left, and Adele Squires of the Almaden Kiwanis Club are greeted by Leon Parado, center, a past president of the Willow Glen Kiwanis Club and host of a recent meeting attended by nearly 100 people. The Almaden members joined members from 16 other Kiwanis clubs along with a few Lions, Optimists and Rotary Club members. Special guest was Raj Mathai, NBC 11 KNTV sports director. There were a few speeches and then the giant raffle of gifts donated by club members and businesses around the South Bay. But the best part: nearly everyone attending who had bought raffle tickets won a prize. |
