Unicorn presents check to EMQ
 |
The annual Unicorn Thrift Shop Christmas Volunteer Luncheon, chaired by Joyce Rood and assisted by Kathie Green and Connie Green, was held at the Joint Venture Church on Dec. 3 with 55 members in attendance. The volunteers were welcomed with hors d’oeuvres, punch and wine before they sat down to the traditional Christmas feast provided by the EMQ Food Service. The tables were festive with lovely snowmen centerpieces compliments of Marilyn Williams and golden books by Kathie Green.
After welcoming the volunteers and thanking them for all their hard work, President Marilyn Wright presented a check in the amount of $47,000 to Darrel Evora, executive director of EMQ. The Unicorn is constantly increasing its monthly profits, which also includes a monthly check of $7,000. Grace Longinotti, past president, recognized volunteers from her year as president: Pat Alarcon, Sharon Coburn, Kathie Green, Agnes Keegan, Margaret Lord, Joyce Rood, Kathy Stoeckle and Marilyn Wright. Jan Curry, first vice president, shared the wishes of the EMQ Christmas family. Each year the Unicorn Thrift Shop provides for a family at Christmas time. The EMQ Unicorn Thrift Shop is located at 1181 Redmond Ave. and is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. -5 p.m., Thursdays from 10-7. They gladly welcome donations from the Almaden community.
