Police suggest owners don’t leave warming cars
With the holiday season upon us, that also means that cooler weather has arrived. To the San Jose Police Department’s Auto Theft Unit, that also means an increase in the theft of vehicles whose owners have left their cars running to warm them up or defrost the windows before leaving for work or school.
Many thieves prefer to do their holiday shopping with your vehicle. They also prefer to use your identity and your credit for their purchases. Auto thieves actively cruise through neighborhoods looking for “warm-ups.” In the time that it’s taken to read this advisory, your car could be gone!
- Don’t be a victim this holiday season.
- Don’t leave valuables or identification in your car.
- Don’t leave your vehicle unattended and running.
- Have a safe holiday season!
