Former Times reporter receives YMCA award
Former Times reporter Kymberli Brady was presented with the YMCA Activate America Award of Excellence at a luncheon on Nov. 30 for her work in the community toward changing the culture and behavior of children and adults to live healthier lives.
Activate America is the YMCA's bold approach to directly address the nation’s growing health crisis. Kymberli’s work as Director of Community Relations and Public Affairs for the San Jose Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce puts her in direct contact with businesses in Silicon Valley and the issues that affect them, including employee wellness, community wellness, and access to health care. The most recent Chamber event, the GoWell! Summit, was held in November and focused on employee wellness programs.
According to the YMCA of Santa Clara Valley, Kymberli “is passionate about making Silicon Valley a healthy place to live and work. She is on the Healthy Silicon Valley Steering Committee and chairs the Community sector. One of the sector goals is to develop an employee wellness mentoring program, matching businesses with successful programs with those that wish to start one. A survey is being distributed to create a baseline assessment of businesses with programs in place and those who are ready to get started. Thank you, Kymberli, for your leadership.”
