The Number One Source of Community News Serving San Jose's Almaden Valley

November 28, 2003

Editorial

“The Almaden Times” has been bringing the Almaden community local news for the past 17 years. In September we decided to go weekly with our publication to bring our readers the most up-to-date news on activities and events that mattered to them in their community. We hired more staff, revamped our look and added some fun features. It has been a busy couple of months, but the reaction we have received from longtime readers reminds us that our efforts have been worth it. We have had overwhelming responses from readers and advertisers writing that they love the more timely information and enjoy the new sections and the new look of our “Almaden Times Weekly” newspaper. We are happy that you appreciate our “new” paper and the renewed vigor with which we shine the light on stories that are of importance in your lives.

With our new weekly publication and the appearance of another new paper in Almaden, there has been some confusion amongst our readers. “The Almaden Times Weekly” is owned by Times Media while “The Almaden Resident” is owned by Silicon Valley Community Newspaper Group. We are in no way affiliated and are two separate entities.

We appreciate the relationships that we have built up in the community over the years and will continue to respond when you let us know there is something happening that you would like us to cover. We are your neighborhood paper. Just drop me an e-mail at Julie@timesmediainc.com or give me a call at (408) 494-7000 x216 if you have an idea or a concern.

In today’s paper we are introducing a few new exciting features. First of all we are honoring our first Teacher of the Month. Manny Martinez is an exceptional seventh grade teacher at Holy Spirit School. Congratulations Manny!

Secondly, we are re-introducing our Focus on Faith series, which highlights a different church in Almaden each month. This gives readers a chance to see the variety of different houses of worship in their neighborhood. An interesting look at the history of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church on McKeon Road.

And, last but not least, we are introducing a Garage Sale page, which will list sales in the 95120 and 95118 zip codes. Just log on to our Web site at www.almadentimes.com and sign up for your free garage (or yard, etc.) sale ad today. Ads must be placed by Tuesday at noon to appear in the Friday issue.
