Christmas in the Park grand opening this Friday at 6 p.m.
Christmas in the Park’s Traditional Holiday Grand Opening unites technology with tradition on Friday Nov. 25 at 6 p.m. at Plaza de Cesar Chavez reminding 450,000-plus expected visitors of a time when holiday gifts came from magical elves in a workshop rather than the Internet.
The free outdoor holiday event is kicked off with the official City Tree Lighting Ceremony featuring Mayor Ron Gonzales and the Community Giving Tree with collection kiosks for three local charities; U.S.Marine Corps’ Toys for Tots, Second Harvest Food Bank and InnVision Family Shelters. More than 60 animated displays, hundreds of decorated trees, thousands of hi-tech twinkling lights and community entertainment will be highlighted at this month-long tradition!
Mayor Ron Gonzales, Vice-Mayor Cindy Chavez, Councilmembers Linda J. LeZotte and Nora Campos and John Farley, NBC 11’s Weather Anchor will all be on hand to celebrate the grand opening.

Malibu Grill set to reopen no later than February
The Almaden Times has received countless requests from hungry customers wanting to know when the Malibu Grill restaurant on Camden Avenue (next to 7-11) will reopen. It has been closed since a Sept. 7-two-alarm kitchen fire.
According to Malibu Grill owner Carlos Padilla the restaurant should be open no later than February. “Construction has started and we are doing a complete remodel, new tables, chairs, bar, plasma TVs including a new big screen, bathroom overhaul and much more. The place is going to be gorgeous…and there will be no menu changes.”
Bailey Avenue closed Nov. 28 through Dec. 18
Bailey Avenue between Monterey Road and Santa Teresa Boulevard will be closed to through traffic from Nov. 28 to Dec. 18 to complete the final phase of construction to connect Bailey Avenue to the new bridge over Monterey Road.
The suggested detour for southbound traffic is to use Bernal Road to Santa Teresa Boulevard and for northbound traffic is to use Palm Avenue to Santa Teresa Boulevard. Flu shots available at Westfield Shopping Centers weekends through Dec. 18
This flu season, adults in the Santa Clara County will have the opportunity to get an affordable flu vaccination at Westfield Valley Fair or Oakridge Shopping Malls on Friday, Saturday or Sunday between 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Dec. 18.
The cost for flu shots is $30 per shot and the cost for a Pneumonia or Tetanus shot is $40 each. Children ages 9 through 17 years old must be accompanied by a parent. Younger children should be taken to a family physician for all vaccinations.
Comedy comes to Campbell: Mothers & Other Goddesses
A comedy show so funny it's like an aerobic workout! Laugh and burn calories after Thanksgiving at Mothers & Other Goddesses-a show created especially for women and the men who love them-coming to The Gaslighter Theater in downtown Campbell at 8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 25.
This fast-pace show has a dozen-costume changes and musical numbers including a nostalgic medley of doo-wops like you've never seen before. Witty views on kids, dads, dates and diets will keep you laughing until your cheeks ache.
The show stars Edie Matthews and Joni Rodgers. Matthews is married and has four kids and one cat. Rodgers is divorced, with one child and four cats. Matthews calls her kids the Good, the Bad, the Ugly and What's his Name? Rodgers used to want a guy with a hot car, now she's looking for a man with good medical benefits! Between Matthews and Rodgers--they have a woman's point of view covered.
