Local band to rock the house
By Justin Petersen
Almaden born, The David Osborn Band is returning home to play the
Almaden Feed and Fuel on Wednesday, Nov. 26 for what has become
an annual Thanksgiving Eve bash. Last year, David Osborn, along
with bassist Michael, David’s older brother, drummer David
Mun, and vocalist Michelle Tosch put on a great show playing classic
covers of bands ranging from Bon Jovi to Tim McGraw, in addition
to showcasing their talents, playing several original songs partly
inspired by the wild youth of the Almaden Valley.
“It’s always great to return home,” says band
founder, David Osborn. “There are so many memories and we
love playing for our friends and family.” With the exception
of Tosch, the other members of the band all graduated from Leland.
Michael finished in ’95 while his brother and Mun both wrapped
it up in 1998.
This has been an eventful year for the quartet, having recently
added another Leland grad, guitarist Joe Reghitto, to the lineup.
“Joe brings a lot of experience and talent into the band,”
says singer/songwriter David Osborn. In addition, The David Osborn
Band has made more than 20 appearances in 2003 while balancing hectic
schedules at school and work.
“We’re all reaching the point in our academic and professional
careers where we are ready to make a larger commitment to music,”
adds Osborn. “Right now, we want to play everywhere and all
the time.” He means that. The band has played venues from
the furthest ends of the spectrum; everywhere from Honkytonks and
wineries to third grade classrooms.
When asked which genre the band might be labeled with, band member,
David Mun replied, “We don’t want to be painted with
one brush too darkly.”
“We play what’s fun,” adds Osborn. “We
want to make music that helps people relax and enjoy themselves,
but most people call us country.”
