Scenes from the 87th annual Veterans Day ceremony and parade

As usual, the annual Veterans Day Parade, which began at Highway 87 and Santa Clara Street and proceeded along Market Street toward the reviewing stand, was a huge hit with revelers young and old. Members from all branches of the service were represented at the parade, along with the customary high school marching bands, politicians, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. The honorary marshal was retiring Mercury News columnist Leigh Weimers, who is an Army veteran. Photos by Julie Davis Berry

The Air Force Band had the crowd dancing.
Councilmember Ken Yeager waves to the crowd. Veterans who served in Iraq and Afghanistan were greeted with applause.
The Campbell Union High School District JRROTC Drill Team performed for the judges. Students from this large contingent of ROTC members include Leigh High School students. The San Jose Police Mounted Unit saluted those in the judging stands.
