Walk To D’Feet ALS raises more than $65,000
By Barbara Luis
Staff Writer
More than 500 volunteers strolled through Vasona Park in Los Gatos
on Oct. 19 to raise money for ALS research during the “Walk
To D’Feet ALS.” While enjoying the warm weather of a
perfect fall day, 25 enthusiastic and energetic teams raised more
than $65,000 for the local chapter of the ALS association in memory
of Doris Dillon and others. Dillon was a nationally renowned Almaden
teacher who died of the debilitating disease a few years ago. Members
of “Doris’ Sunshine Club” trudged merrily between
the group picnic area and the dam, then headed back for a delicious
barbecue and social time. Several other walks are taking place in
northern California, and many more are planned throughout the country.
