November is Operation Care and Comfort’s largest shipping month to troops

Volunteers needed

It's November - Operation: Care and Comfort's largest shipping month of the year. In October, we shipped almost 9,000 pounds of care packages, bringing our total shipped to 193,751 pounds! It is our goal to ship 10,000 or more pounds in November, and the same in December. As of this month, we will have about 60 units on our monthly list with more on a waiting list. Don't forget that we would love to have folks donate their left over Halloween candy to us to ship to our Troops!

We will have many opportunities for folks to get involved to help this month. On Sunday November 19th, we plan to pack 200 (about 10,000 pounds) of bulk boxes to ship. In addition, we have a couple of large care package assemblies where we will assemble at least 1000 individual packages to ship. Please note: if you wish to purchase and donate items to send to our Troops for Christmas, please get them to us by December 1st, to allow time for packing and shipping. (It takes two weeks to reach Iraq and Afghanistan.) This is also a great time to make a monetary donation to help us cover shipping costs of $1 a pound! Information for monetary donations is posted on our web site, at www.operationcareandcomfort.org.

In addition, for the second year, our grassroots "Adopt a Military Family" program is in full swing. Last year, we were able to assist 30 local military families with needs during the Christmas season. For more information on this program, please visit our web site, Upcoming Events. If you and your family, company, or organization would like to be added to our stand by list to anonymously adopt a family, please send Julie an email at troopsupport@comcast.net.

November and December Events

Last year, the Warriors raised over $4000 for us.

- Sunday, November 19th and Sunday, December 17th, 10:00 until we are done: Please come out and help us pack 10,000+ pounds of care packages! This will be our largest packing event of the year, and all ages are welcome. Lunch and drinks will be provided.
