Ghosties and ghoulies gather for a ‘Monster Mash' of a party

'Twas the night before Halloween, and all through the room, not a creature was stirring—it was quiet as a tomb.
That might have been the case somewhere in Almaden Valley on Oct. 30, but it certainly didn't describe the Almaden Community Center on Camden Avenue, whose multi-purpose room was buzzing with a bevy of costumed kids attending the Pumpkin Patch Party!
Held from 4 to 6 p.m. under the direction of several Community Center aides—all in costume—the party was geared toward 4- to 7-year-olds, but some parents toted younger children along too. The festivities began with several Halloween-themed arts and crafts projects, followed by a variety of games for treats and prizes. After working up an appetite, the children decorated ghost-shaped cupcakes with chocolate chips and white-as-a-sheet frosting, before gobbling them up and washing them down with punch. A Halloween storytime wrapped up the evening.
