Pausing to admire the newest semi-postal stamp dedicated to “stamping out domestic violence,” San Jose Vice-Mayor Pat Dando (right) is joined by City Postmaster Noemi Luna (far left) and executive director of “Next Door Solutions to Family Violence” Kathleen Krenek. The Vice-Mayor gathered near the steps of City Hall Monday afternoon with a number of officials representing domestic violence groups from around the Silicon Valley to unveil the colorful stamp created by a young domestic violence victim. It's the third “semi-postal” stamp in U.S. history. The 45-cent, self-adhesive stamp is valid for postage as First Class mail at the first-ounce letter rate (currently 37 cents), with the difference (currently 8 cents) going to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for domestic violence programs across the country.
