Thrift Box holds annual Pumpkin Patch
The ladies of the San Jose Auxiliary for the Lucille Packard Children’s Hospital held their 35th annual Pumpkin Patch and, as usual, it was a success. Total attendance was unknown at press time, but it appeared the crowd surpassed last year’s record number of 850. Lunch, which was quite delicious, also sold out at 350 lunches this year. The annual event raises funds for the Packard Children’s Hospital, providing funds to pay for the care for sick children whose families are unable to meet, in many cases, the extreme expenses. This year, 10 girls from local high schools helped seat, serve and bus tables. Two of them are pictured above. Zoe Olvera, a junior at Leigh High School, and Cathie Myers, a junior at Leland, pose with kitchen worker Johanna Hirt, a former eighth grade teacher (who taught both girls) at Almaden Country School and currently a PR consultant.
