10/15, Selective Enforcement

Camden/Montalban Drive

The District Adam team conducted radar enforcement at the above location regarding a traffic complaint. This complaint reflects concerns from Vice-Mayor Dando's constituents involving speeding vehicles and an auto collision resulting in a critical injury to a local high school student. The team made contact with 65 motorists, issuing 15 citations for unsafe speed and 50 educational warnings for lesser speeds. The citation speeds ranged from 53 mph to 69 mph in a 40 mph zone. Vice-Mayor Dando's office was notified of this morning's enforcement action.

10/16, Vehicle Accident

Meridian/Portobelo

A collision occurred at the intersection of Meridian and Portobelo, one block south of Branham Lane. The collision involved a 50-year-old female who was walking eastbound in the crosswalk with a green signal light. The vehicle was westbound on Portobelo initiating a left turn onto southbound Meridian when the vehicle struck the pedestrian. Fire and paramedics were on the scene and transported the victim/pedestrian to VMC/ER for further observation and treatment. The injuries were said not to be life threatening.
