Street Talk by Carol Rosen

Have you been following the Scott Peterson trail? If you have, do you think he’s guilty?
(Asked at Via Valiente Plaza)

“I hate the trial. It’s quite tiring, and has gone on too long. It needs to be over. There’s been way too much news coverage. He’s guilty of course. There’s too many coincidences for him not to be guilty, all the evidence points toward his guilt.”

Bob Yost, 59,
Almaden
Retired from IBM

“I’m aware of it a little, but I got tired of it months ago. I don’t need a daily update, besides if you listen to those news reports you hear the same thing all the time. I think he’s guilty.”

Lori Yang,
39,
Almaden
Homemaker

“I’m not really all that familiar with it. I’m not that influenced by what’s happening outside of my world. Oh wait, isn’t that the guy who [allegedly] killed his wife. Yes, [I believe] he did it.”

Jason Clark, 14,
Almaden
Student at Leland High

“I haven’t really paid much attention to it, I’m too busy. Yes, he appears to be guilty.”

Kim Arras, 41
Almaden
Housewife

“Yes I have kept up with the trial. I watch Court TV. I don’t think they [the police and prosecution] explored enough alternatives and other suspects. I think the case is mostly circumstantial evidence. Of course, I don’t know everything, but there’s been almost no disclosure of any physical evidence. Just because he had an affair with Amber Frey and he’s a liar doesn’t mean he’s capable of committing homicide. I haven’t really made a decision about his guilt. I’m open-minded. I don’t think anyone should receive the death penalty on circumstantial evidence without physical proof.”

Becky Logg-Bernhard, 50ish
Almaden
Self-employed

“There’s been too much coverage of the trail. I’m excited that it’s almost over. Many other newsworthy things have gotten overlooked because of the sensationalism of this trial. I don’t know if he’s guilty. All the evidence is circumstantial. He’s a pretty slimy individual, but that doesn’t mean he’s guilty of murder.”

Cindy Klinger, 55
Almaden
Student/homemaker
