Are you personally affected by the lack of sports fields in Almaden? How do you think the efforts to find sports fields have been handled thus far and where do you think the kids should be playing?
(Asked Via Valiente Plaza)

“No, I’m not affected by this issue. They’re already playing at all the schools. Maybe they could use stadiums around the city, like Spartan Stadium.”

Dorothy DeGraw, 60+

“Absolutely, I’m affected. The people that are heading the Youth Soccer League and the [Almaden] Little League have been making great efforts. When they decided to revamp the schools they took away school fields. The government has promised but these promises seem to be empty. They should have fields on McKean Road, it should have been done a long time ago, but it keeps getting denied.”

“No I’m not affected and I have no idea about the sports fields and basically don’t care [about sports fields] at this point.”

“I don’t think they’ve done enough. They were supposed to put a sports complex on McKean Road, but that isn’t enough. All the other cities [around here] have sports fields. Almaden should too and that’s where the kids should be playing.”

“No, I’m not affected yet. I have no idea how much effort has been put into this issue. We’re not there yet. I have a 4-year-old and a baby and I’m planning on putting her into soccer next summer. Then it will be important to me."

“I really feel we need more sports field for the kids. I’m hoping we can all work together to find them. Please, everyone try a little harder!”

Lucy Greene
Almaden
Investor

“Yes, I’m affected by the lack of fields. I haven’t had much visibility to what the plans are. I do know there are plans underway to broaden the availability of fields in Almaden Valley.”

Cindy Sherrett, 49
Almaden
IT consultant

“Yes, we travel a lot to Morgan Hill for soccer and baseball. There’s a lot of territory left. There needs to be plans for sports fields. There have been plans for a highway for the last 20 years, but sports fields also need to be part of city planning. We own property and I don’t mind paying taxes for parks, but we need to keep our children [and their recreation] in mind too.”
