AVCS Parenting Classes still open

Almaden Valley Counseling Service is still accepting registrations for its fall session of the Positive Parenting classes and the Cooperative Parenting and Divorce classes.

Positive Parenting Classes
In an effort to help parents work proactively toward improving their relationships with their children, we offer the STEP (Systematic Training for Effective Parenting) classes. The seven-week STEP offers parents a realistic and practical approach to meeting the challenges of raising children today. All classes are 7:15 to 9:15 p.m.

Class Schedule:
Preschool Age (up to 5): Monday nights starting Oct. 20
School Age (6 – 11): Wednesday nights starting Oct. 22
Teen Age (12 – 17): Thursday nights starting Oct. 23

Cooperative Parenting and Divorce Classes Divorced or divorcing parents will find the course openly addresses likely areas of conflict and offers possible solutions that keep parents centered on the happiness and wellbeing of their child. The program implements effective communication skills between co-parents for conflict resolution. The group format provides support at a time when divorced or divorcing parents need it.

This is an eight-week course on Tuesday nights starting Oct. 21 from 7:15 to 9:15 p.m. Only one parent from a co-parenting family per class is invited.
