Arnold Schwarzenegger recently announced he will run for a second term as California governor. What do you think of his performance as governor so far? Who do you think should run against him?
(Asked at Almaden Lake Park)

“I don’t know yet about either. I certainly don’t know what choices we have yet for governor. It is a ways off. I don’t really like the job he’s doing.”

Lynn Block, 39
Almaden
School secretary for Herman Intermediate School

“I’m not happy about him running again. I don’t think he’s smart enough, he’s a muscle head. I don’t know who is going to run against him. I think he’s doing a horrible job. He takes money from the school districts and the police and fire departments.”

Nuno De Avila, 35
Almaden
Construction management

“I question who he’s running against. I’m not in favor of him running again. I don’t care for his style. He’s a star that’s got a lot of good ideas, but he’s not a good manager or leader. We need someone as governor that can think things out and who works for the people. I think Arnold has a double standard, and I’m normally a Republican.”

Debbie Wright, 44
Almaden
Payroll manager

“Personally, the job he is doing hasn’t affected me or my family. I was happy to see him win because he’s fresh and new. Of course he’s made mistakes, but the people around him aren’t helping him correct them. He’s much better than Warren Beatty would be.”

Viki Rorie, 42
Almaden
Owner, Floors to Go

“I have no idea who’s going to run against him. I don’t think he’s particularly doing a good job. There’s a lot of mud slinging from both sides. I have a general feeling that he could be doing better.”

Steve Johnson, 37
Almaden
Works for the phone company

“I’m not sure who will run against him, but I wouldn’t vote for him again. He’s doing a terrible job. Both my sisters are teachers. I don’t feel like he knows what he’s doing. He’s doing what he’s told by his advisors, he’s just a puppet. ”

Gary Romac, 50
San Jose
Construction

“I think he should try making movies again. Being governor is not as easy as he thought. I have no idea who will run against him. The big point for me was lowering workman’s comp rates. I question if he knows what he’s doing. And, our schools are getting screwed too. I don’t think he will get re-elected.”

Rod Alves, 48
Almaden
Tile contractor

“I feel fine about him running for a second term. He’s doing the best he can. I question who will run against him. I’m not sure what kind of job he’s doing. As a single mom, I have a hectic schedule and I’m very busy with work and with my children and their activities. I rarely have time to read the paper.”
