Scores of children and their parents flocked to Arena Green Park on Sept. 23 to celebrate the San Jose Police Mounted Unit’s 20th anniversary and to learn about kids’ safety.
“It was a great day for the unit and also for the families who got to get up close and personal with the horses,” said Friends of the Mounted Unit coordinator Denelle Fedor. “The great thing is they also got a chance to learn about staying safe while participating in the walk.”
The Friends group raises money to support the mounted unit program, which has been in jeopardy in recent years due to budget cuts.
