Kids’ Bike Fest 2006 fundraiser set for this Saturday
The Turning Wheels for Kids Bike Fest 2006 fund-raiser will be held this Saturday, Sept. 30 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Amato's Pizza in the Almaden Oaks Shopping Center. The fund-raiser will feature a live band inside and a car show outside, as well as a silent auction. Tickets are $15 a piece, which includes a bidding number, a drink and entry into a raffle to win a $650 bike.
Turning Wheels for Kids is working to donate 1,000 bikes this year, which is more than double the 450 bikes donated last year, and any coverage in the community would be helpful. The grassroots
organization is in its fourth year and was started by Almaden resident Sue Runsvold.

City seeks input on re-use of community centers
A series of informational pubic meetings to obtain re-use alternatives for City Re-Use facilities have been held recently and the next meeting will be held Saturday, Sept. 30 at the Camden Community Center, 3369 Union Avenue, 95124.
The meetings are presented by the city of San Jose, Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services, Community Services Division. The San Jose City Council extended the Facility Re-Use process to include additional community outreach meetings in specific neighborhoods containing proposed sites for re-use. Community outreach meetings with stakeholders will include community-based organizations, residents, and schools within each neighborhood.
City staff will return to City Council on Dec. 8 with the findings from these meetings for discussion and direction.
