Humane Society hosts groundbreaking, 5th annual Walk ‘n Wag

The Humane Society Silicon Valley will hold a groundbreaking for its new Animal Community Center along with its 5th annual Walk ‘n Wag from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday Oct. 6 at 901 Ames Ave. in Milpitas.

Rascal is the only living and competing ugly dog to hold the coveted “Ring of Champions” title which makes him the current “World's Ugliest Dog.”

The groundbreaking ceremony for the new center, which the society calls an innovative community center for people and pets, will feature an adoption galleria with home-like habitats for animals, a boarding facility, doggie daycare, grooming center, dog park and training center, pet store, pet-friendly café, education center, outdoor arena, affordable spay/neuter services and a veterinary hospital with a public viewing room. The ceremony will last about 30 minutes.

It will be followed by the 5th annual Walk ‘n Wag walkathon, which is a 1.5-mile walk through Milpitas ending at Soletron Corporation’s campus at 847 Gibraltar Drive. Proceeds from the Walk ‘n Wag will support the shelter animals at HSSV.

There also will be a special guest at the event. Rascal, the world’s ugliest dog, will make an appearance.
