NEWS BRIEFS

A valuable organization

During their final meeting before the upcoming Sept. 26 Almaden Valley Art & Wine Festival, members of the Almaden Valley Women’s Club accepted a $5,000 check from Vice Mayor Pat Dando Tuesday night.

“I hope that you will be able to make good use of this,” Dando said upon presenting the check to festival chair Cindy Griffeth.

“Somehow I know you will. The city realizes the value of this organization.”

Although the new venue brings with it a host of new challenges, as well as opportunities, Dando remains hopeful that Almaden Lake Park will become a place where the club will want to call home for future festivals—but left the option open for a possible return to Parma Park.

“If you want to come back to Parma Park, then we’ll start working on that as well,” she said. “Hopefully, this time next year, if the center is not finished, it should be close to being finished, so we’ll have to play that a little bit by ear.”

“Sometimes good things come from change, and you may find that you like this facility better,” she added. “It may become a place that you’ll want to call home.”

“Parks and Rec. and the city have been wonderful to work with this year,” replied Griffith. “They’ve made it a really good experience and we are looking forward to having it at the lake.”
