Did you watch the Emmy awards on Sunday night? Did your favorite shows win? What did you think
of
the clothes?
(Asked at Almaden Center)
“No, I didn’t watch it because I was working. I probably wouldn’t have watched it anyway because I don’t watch a lot of television, except for the news. I looked at the pictures in the newspaper this morning and some of the dresses were pretty.”
Joan Keller, 67

Process management consultant
“I didn’t watch them and I wouldn’t have watched them because I think most television is not worth watching except for the news and some movies. And sometimes some of the news isn’t worth watching. I do care about the clothes. I love clothes. I would rather watch the Oscars. All of these shows, though, are too long and boring with too many commercials. I do enjoy the Tony awards though because I love the theater. I always watch the Tonys.”
Sharon Codd, 50+

“No, I didn’t because I had better things to do. However, I did read about it this morning in the paper. I was rooting for ‘Deadwood’ to win and Ian McShane to win best actor. It’s a rough series, but it’s well written with great stories and great characters. You never know what’s going to happen next. It’s really a wild series, like the wild, wild West.”
Bruce Grandin, 52

Former corporate video producer
“I did not watch it. I was doing homework in my office last night. I didn’t think much about it. ‘CSI’ is probably my favorite program.”
Larry Brundage, 31
Almaden
Pastoral intern at South Hills Community Church
“I only watched about five minutes of it, my daughter wanted to watch the ‘Flintstones.’ I turned it on to see who would win from what shows. But in light of everything else that’s going on [in this country], it seemed a bit insipid.”
Traci Millman, 42
Almaden
Homemaker
“No we went to a San Jose Giants baseball game and watched Danny Phantom when we got home. I don’t usually watch it because it’s boring. It’s people self-promoting themselves. ”
Frederica Stearns
Willow Glen
Homemaker
“I just watched a little bit of it, maybe an hour, to see what shows were nominated and who won. My favorite show, ‘CSI-Las Vegas’ wasn’t nominated. I did think the clothes were a little better than usual.”
Kirsten Long, 36
Almaden
Marketing director
“I really don’t watch much television, but, I’m embarrassed to say, I did watch the Emmys. I love awards shows and I love Ellen DeGeneras. I enjoyed two parts really well, the Jon Stewart tape and David Letterman’s tribute to Johnny Carson. I also watch to be appalled by certain people. I love to look at the dresses and the hairdos. Actually, Marcia Cross is a therapist. She went to school with my daughter in Los Angeles.”
Deidre Popolizio, 57

Therapist
“Yes, I watched part of it. We don’t usually watch those shows. We actually were looking for the news. The gowns those girls wore were beautiful, but those girls are so tiny. They also are pretty young. When you get to be a certain age, you can’t wear clothes like that. My favorite program is ‘CSI,’ but I’ve enjoyed ‘Everyone Loves Raymond’ and sometimes ‘Dr. Phil.’”
