The Santa Clara Valley Water Color Society presents “Fluid Borders…where elements converge” 38th Annual Member Show at the Rose Shenson Gallery at the Triton Museum, 1505 Warburton Ave in Santa Clara. Admission is free. Public viewing daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Opening reception will be September 11 from 1 – 4 p.m.

MUSIC
September 10 - 25
Opera San Jose presents “The Crucible” at the California Theatre, The Crucible, winner of the Pulitzer Prize, is one of the few widely recognized operatic masterworks of the twentieth-century, it is uniquely American, set in Massachusetts and steeped in the history and values of this country. September 17 – Saturday
The Studio Theatre of California together with The Fun Times Singers presents a Benefit Concert for the Victims of Hurricane Katrina featuring The Fun Times Singers directed by Laura Green, and The STOCtet directed by Kevin Cormier. The concert will at 8 pm., at St. Lucy’s Catholic Church, 2350 Winchester Blvd., in Campbell. The suggested donation is $5, but all donations are welcome. September 16 – 18
Desert Dance Festival: The Civic Auditorium will host one of Northern California’s premiere events highlighting the Middle Eastern dance community. The organizer celebrates this milestone with added activities featuring performers, instructors and vendors from beyond the local community. This event will feature instructors in a series of workshops celebrating diversity and vision in the dance. Additions to the schedule will also include a fashion show highlighting designers and dancers from around the country and a dance costume contest open to the general public.Hours are Friday, from 6:30 – 10:30 p.m. Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8:30 pm. September 9 – October 2
San Jose Repertory Theatre presents The World Premiere of “The Haunting of Winchester” Book and lyrics by Mary Bracken Phillips; Music and orchestration by Craig Bohmler. September 13 – 25
American Musical Theatre of San Jose presents a spell-binding version of L. Frank Baum’s beloved “The Wizard of Oz,” at the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts. Featuring a cast of 70, lavish special effects, and vivid pyrotechnics, this timeless presentation brings back all of the favorite songs from the 1939 MGM film, as well as ‘The Jitterbug” which was cut from the original film version. September 21 – October 16
San Jose Stage Company, 490 South First Street, presents “Tenders in the Fog.” Using influences from Beckett to banshees to Bach, local playwright Trevor Allen spins the mystery of the fishing boat Trinity, presumed lost at sea off the foggy San Francisco coast. An ageless shanachie serves as the guide for this Celtic-flavored ghost story of three generations of Irish-American crab fishermen—fathers and sons each named James Bailey—haunted by their stormy pasts. Are the Bailey men tormented by reflections of the women they’ve loved and lost or being lured by ancient Sirens to a watery grave? September 16 – 18
Holy Family Parish, 4848 Pearl Avenue, Celebrates 100 years! Parish Festival commerates centennial event. Now in its 26th year, the festival will feature the Joe Sharino Band on Friday, Sage Band on Saturday, and Musician¹s Warehouse Band on Sunday. This community event includes carnival rides, international food, beer, wine, margaritas, games, a silent auction, bingo, and cherry bells for everyone¹s continued enjoyment. Back this year is KidFest on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Superhero Saturday will be the theme for this year’s KidFest. Children are invited to come dressed up as their favorite superhero. There will be two raffles, a 50/50 mega-raffle with a maximum prize up to $25,000, and a second raffle with a grand prize of $500 every month for a year, we will begin celebrating prize winners and the close of the festival on Sunday at 5:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to take part in this wonderful community event. Sunnyvale Community Theater presents “Sound of Music,” by Howard Lindsey and Russel Crouse, music by Rogers and Hammerstein. “The Sound of Music” is one of the most well loved family musicals based on the story of the Von Trapp family singers. September 17 – Saturday
George Page Park (Santa Teresa and Miyuki) will once again be the site of the 6th Annual south San Jose Communityfest. This end-of-summer tradition is presented by the Santa Teresa Citizen’s Action Group and the office of District 2 Councilmember Forrest Williams. The event features craft booths, jump houses, local entertainment, community groups and local law enforcement all joining together to enhance the communities of south San Jose. Communityfest hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

September 17 – Saturday
Pokémon fans are invited to “Pokémon Rocks San Jose!” at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Be part of the Pokémon experience, including playable demos of the new Pokémon XD: Gala of Darkness game for the Nintendo GameCube, exclusive downloads for Pokémon video games, Pokémon carnival games, and live stage activities. The festival will celebrate the Pokémon experience by bringing together enthusiasts from all over the area to share in the fun and excitement. South Bay Deutscher Schulverein, a German Saturday Language School, offers German language instructions at the Willow Glen Educational Park, Middle School Section, 2001 Cottle Avenue. Fall Art Classes for Kids: The ArtHouse offers Fall fine art classes for kids ages 2-15. September 24 – Saturday
The Original Rubber Stamp Convention: (Rubberama Stamp and Paper Arts Festival) An art rubber stamp convention at Parkside Hall that features many accessories, such as stationery, stencils, memory scrapbooking supplies, embossing goods, stamp pads, markers, etc. Learn to create your own hand-made greeting cards, invitations, scrapbooks, and much more. There are always on-going demonstrations during the show as well as free Mini-lectures and Make It and Take It classes. October 4 – Tuesday
Century 12 Champion invites the public to join the 13th Annual Charity Golf Tournament at the Cinnabar Hills Golf Course to benefit the Bill Wilson Center. Festivities begin at 10:30 a.m. with food and refreshments served. The shotgun start is set for Noon. There will be other contests on the course including a hole-in-one, longest drive and closest to the pin. The entry fee is $150.00 per player, which includes golf balls, brunch, a cart and dinner at which prizes will be awarded.
