Los Gatos - Monte Sereno Police Pipes and Drums to lead 9/11 Memorial March to Fire Station #1

On Saturday, Sept. 11 following an 11:30 a.m. Memorial Mass at Saint Joseph’s Cathedral Basilica The Los Gatos - Monte Sereno Police Pipes and Drums will lead members of the San Jose Fire Department and Police Department up Market Street to Fire Station #1 for a memorial service. The parade steps off at approximately 1 p.m.

This year the San Jose Fire Department has invited then San Jose Police Department to join in the annual memorial tribute, “Ringing of the Last Alarm.”

In September 2001, Chief Larry Todd of the Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Department, with Pipe Major Jay Tuttle, authorized the official formation of the Los Gatos – Monte Sereno Police Pipes and Drums.

The band is a volunteer unit of the Los Gatos - Monte Sereno Police Department and is comprised of volunteers from the community and surrounding law enforcement and public safety agencies.

The band has a very active schedule performing in 40 events in 2004 and was the guest band at the Pleasanton Highland Games over the Labor Day Weekend.

The band performed at the National Peace Officers Memorial in Washington DC during National Police Memorial Week this past May.
