Mary Elizabeth Manning, 73,

Mary Elizabeth Manning, a 29-year resident of Almaden valley, died on Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004 after a courageous battle with emphysema. She was also a breast cancer survivor.
Born in St. Joseph Mo. in 1930, she was one of 11 children. She met her husband John in New York City, where they were later married. They moved to San Jose in 1975, and said that Almaden was the perfect place to raise her four daughters.
Manning was well known in the Almaden community, according to her daughter Maryann Mason, also of Almaden. She and her husband John owned and ran View Easy Video from 1995 to 1999. “Customers enjoyed her pleasant smile and her enthusiasm for life,” said Mason. “Everyone misses her so much.”
She was also involved her church, Holy Spirit, serving as the youth group coordinator in the 1980s when her daughters were in high school.
She was the devoted wife of John Joseph Manning and the mother of four daughters: Karen and her husband Bob Esposito, Debra Schipsi, Helen and her husband Dan Patton and Maryann and her husband Dan Mason. She was the grandmother of eight: Bobby, Cindy, Chrissy, Megan, John, Riley, Brett and Liam; and had two great-grandchildren: Katryna and Krysta. She is survived by siblings Rebecca, Lois, Earnest, Wayne, Buzzy and Everett.
And, she is survived by brother-in-law Tom Manning and Frances Manning.
Services were held. Contribu-tions may be made in her memory to The American Lung Association in lieu of flowers.
