Performing Live at the Montgomery Theater - The Romantic Voices of a Golden Era. Aztlán Academy presents Azul Bohemia in Concert Three young men have united their talents and experience to continue firing up the romantic music of great Trios of México. Presented by Aztlán Academy this concert fundraiser helps support the Academy’s year-round education and performance programs. Opera San Jose presents “The Crucible” at the California Theatre, The Crucible, winner of the Pulitzer Prize, is one of the few widely recognized operatic masterworks of the twentieth-century, it is uniquely American, set in Massachusetts and steeped in the history and values of this country.

Bin Huang in Concert at the California Theatre – one night only, from 8 – 10:30 p.m. This concert is a commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the end of World War II. It is primarily a classical music concert, featuring Bin Huang, the first prize winner of the 41st Paganini International Violin Competition. The concert repertoire comprises Jewish music and Chinese music during World War II, Paganini Caprices and Beethoven’s Sonata for violin and piano. 30th Annual Tapestry Arts Festival - What began thirty years ago as Tapestry in Talent you now know as the Tapestry Arts Festival. Come join us Labor Day Weekend from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. as we celebrate 30 years with live music, art, food, and fun. Tapestry Arts is San Jose’s oldest and largest street festival with hundreds of artists, four live music stages, and food from around the world. Do you enjoy reading and helping others? Consider a richly rewarding volunteer opportunity as a Tutor in the adult literacy program - Partners in Reading. Sign up now for the September 15th orientation and training on September 17th and 24th. Fourteen hours of training, instructional materials, & on-going support are all provided free. Vision Literacy needs tutor volunteers to help adults build their literacy skills. Tutor volunteer opportunities exist in community literacy, family literacy, substance abuse treatment programs and correctional facilities. Learn to Write Your Life Story/Family History: Two sections of “Life Stories,” a 10-week life-in-review class will be offered on Mondays at the Unitarian Fellowship of Los Gatos, 15980 Blossom Hill Road. The morning session is from 10 a.m. to noon, the afternoon woman’s group is from 1 – 3 p.m. Instructor Sheila Dunec has over 20 years of teaching and counseling experience at Foothill College and has developed a course that make it easy and enjoyable for anyone to write about their life and family history. StrollerStriders Ongoing outdoor exercise and fitness program now enrolling for moms with stroller-age children focusing on endurance, toning, and core bodywork in a social atmosphere designed for moms. Program consists of 45-60 min. workouts up to three times per week at the Los Gatos Creek Trail and Campbell Park. Bring stroller, baby jogger, towel, water, and sunscreen with baby to Campbell Park located at 2 Gilman Ave. at Campbell Ave. Meet at Bridge at 9:15 a.m. every Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays.
