Almaden Valley Art & Wine Festival announces winner of logo design contest

After reviewing more than 90 entries, the Almaden Valley Women’s Club has announced the winner of its 29th annual Art & Wine Festival logo design contest.

The winner, Jennifer Hirano, is a freshman at Leland High School.

Jennifer’s winning logo will appear on festival merchandise and promotions, street banners and signage throughout Almaden and surrounding areas. With her parents Frank and Colleen, and her art teacher Mimi Fujii, the Almaden Valley Women’s Club presented Jennifer with a $100 check during the logo contest award ceremony on May 3.

Jennifer has lived in the Almaden Valley for seven years. A year ago she began taking art instruction under the direction of Fujii, who lives in New Almaden. Jennifer is not only a graphic designer; she also maintains is a 4.0 GPA and made the principal’s list at Leland High School. When Jennifer’s not busy with school studies, she enjoys ice skating, playing the piano, and clarinet. Future college interests include San Francisco Art Academy to become a graphic or fashion designer or Santa Clara University and possibly entering the medical field.

Honorable mention awards were given to Jennifer Miller, an eighth grade student at Castillero Middle School and her art teacher Gwen Anderson, and Sarah Sendig, an eighth grade student at Almaden Country School and her art teacher Sharon Wilkus.

The Almaden Valley Art & Wine Festival will be held on Sunday, Sept. 25 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. This is the second year the festival will be held at Almaden Lake Park, near the intersection of Almaden Expressway and Coleman Avenue in San Jose’s Almaden community.
