What are your thoughts on Alberto Gonzales’ resignation? Do you think it was the right thing to do?
(Asked at Almaden Center)
“I think it was definitely the right thing for him to do and it was overdue. Any attorney general who argues the Constitution doesn’t grant the writ of habeas corpus doesn’t deserve to be attorney general.”
Kelly Pittman, 21
Almaden
Veterinary technician
“Yes, he should have resigned. My top objection was that he was the top attorney in the country and he disregarded the Constitution.”
Shea Clifford, 21
Almaden
Senior Cal Poly San Luis Obispo
“It’s about time. Yes, it was the right thing to do because I think that he engaged in some questionable practices.”
Rus Richter, 46
Almaden
Software engineer
“Yes, it was the right thing to do just going on the population’s feelings in general. I hope he took the path of least amount of damage for the country."
Erin Mitchell, 36
Almaden
Educational consultant
“I didn’t know that he resigned today [Monday, Aug. 27], but I do think it was the right move with all the controversy surrounding him, I feel that it is the most positive action for him to take.”
Neal Timmers, 39
Almaden
Homemaker
"I thought he was a sneaky Bush ally and he should have resigned [a long time ago] and I think Bush should be right behind him.”
Tom Short, 50
Almaden
IBM sales
"I’m supremely happy that he resigned, but he absolutely should have been gone a long time ago. There were too many negatives and no positives [about him]. He was all political and everyone knows he was a puppet."
Randy Gilkey, 41
Almaden
Union carpenter
“I think he’s very lucky he’s not in jail. He should be. I think Congress let him off the hook.”
Tom McCollum
