Attempted kidnapping at Los Gatos Almaden Road and Redstone Drive

On Friday, Aug. 24 at about 7:40 a.m., a white male in his late 30s to early 40s tried to kidnap a 62-year-old female at Los Gatos Almaden Road and Redstone Drive. The victim was walking westbound on the north side of Los Gatos Almaden Road toward Redstone Drive when she passed by the suspect, who was standing outside his pickup truck. The suspect told the victim to get in his truck, punched her on the face and knocked her to the ground. The suspect then got in his truck and fled westbound Los Gatos Almaden Road.

The suspect is 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall with a thin build, short brown hair and wearing a light-colored short-sleeve shirt and blue jeans. His vehicle was a 1970s or 80s Ford or Chevy full-size pickup truck.

Memorial scheduled for Jim Arbuckle

A formal memorial service for Jim Arbuckle, who passed away on July 7 (see Almaden Times, July 19 issue), is scheduled for Thursday Oct. 4 at 5 p.m. at San Jose History Park on Senter Road.

The memorial of his life is co-sponsored by History San Jose, The California Pioneers of Santa Clara County, The Ancient and Honorable Order of E Clampus Vitus Mountain Charlie Chapter No. 1850, Preservation Action Council of San Jose and his many lifelong friends and associates who knew and loved Jim so well.


Health and Wellness Series - Art of Living Yoga Workshops

The Art of Living Foundation and the Almaden Branch Library are pleased to offer this series of informative Yoga workshops that will be held on four successive Saturdays starting on Sept. 8 and concluding Sept. 29. Each of these free sessions will start at 2:30 p.m. and conclude at 4 p.m.

The topic for the opening session is "Stress, Breath and You." Topics for the other sessions are: “Healthy Nutrition through Ayurveda,” “Yoga and Your Health” and “Empowering Our Youth.”

These interactive presentations focusing on breathing techniques will help release stress and enhance the quality of life. Each session will provide an opportunity for practicing various yoga stretching techniques, focused meditation and overall relaxation.
