Vineland Library welcomes fall
The Vineland Library welcomes fall with the return of some familiar programs, plus several wonderful new ones! All story times resume after Labor Day. We are pleased to offer a new story time: Mother Goose, for children under 2. Mother Goose features short rhymes, songs, fingerplays and books to create a gentle language enrichment experience for children and their caregivers. It is a wonderful bonding experience. Mother Goose begins Thursday, Sept. 20 at 10:30 a.m.
Yes, it’s that time of year again! We are having our third annual bookmark contest in celebration of Children’s Book Week. Children in grades one through 12 are invited to create an original bookmark promoting books and reading. Pick up the entry form at the library. A winner will be chosen for each grade level, and winning bookmarks will be printed and distributed at the library during Children’s Book Week, Nov. 12-18. The contest begins Saturday, Sept. 8. Winners will be presented awards on Wednesday, Nov.14 at 6:45 in Vineland’s Community Room.
Are you interested in volunteering? Look no further than the library! The library is now accepting volunteer applications for teens ages 15+ and adults. Teens are also encouraged to join the library’s teenReach group to develop and participate in library activities just for teens. TeensReach is a great way to develop leadership skills and become lifelong library advocates. Pick up any volunteer applications at the library.
The Vineland Friends of the Library sponsor many programs offered at the library. They are supported by your purchases at their book sales. Mark your calendars for the next big biannual sale on Oct. 27.
Sept. 29 to Oct. 6 is Banned Book Week at all libraries nationwide. Stay tuned for banned book programs at the library for adults and teens.
