Rules Committee says no Sports Field audit necessary

On Aug. 5, District 10 candidate Nancy Pyle sent a letter to the Mayor, City Council, and City Auditor Jerry Silva requesting an audit of the McKean Road Youth Sports Facility project, stating that there was no legal or financial oversight, along with an absence of agreements between the AYA and the city.

On Aug. 18, the matter was brought to the Rules Committee, and the motion was deferred in order to allow the City Manager's office time to look into the matter and issue their report.

On Wednesday, the AYA financials were discussed at length-with Pyle in attendance. The Rules Committee accepted the report, determined that everything was in order, and decided that no audit would be necessary.

"Unfortunately, as in this case it would be better for a community member interested in an issue to call the city or my office directly to get an answer rather than relying completely on a newspaper," said Dando.

According to Dando, Pyle was given an opportunity to ask questions, but she didn't have any.

Pyle was unavailable for comment at press time.
