Art for art’s sake

Gillian Lane Altieri explains techniques to students at her Friday morning art class with an example from one of her Mission series paintings. The classes offer “instruction, inspiration and the joy of being in an artistic atmosphere,” said Altieri.

The personable Altieri is an award-winning artist who instructs students in watercolor, acrylic, soft pastel, oil and mixed media. All skill levels are welcome. The fine art classes are held at the New Almaden Community Center on Friday mornings from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Altieri will also be scheduling an evening class for interested students.
