Tabard Theatre holds auditions for singing roles for men
To complete casting for The Tabard Theatre Company's December production of “The All Night Strut!” the company is having further auditions to fill two singing roles for men: one tenor and one bass (must have a solid low E). These singers also need to move (or dance) well.
They will form part of a jazz quartet (similar to The Manhattan Transfer singing group) who, with the soprano and alto roles to be sung by Lexie Lazear and Michelle Barrow-Ianiro, comprise the entire four-person cast of “The All Night Strut!” These four performers sing throughout the show. When not soloing, the singers provide beautiful, warm jazz back-up harmonies.
Music includes jazzy, swingy arrangements of popular tunes from the 1930s and 1940s, including a medley of World War II songs.
Each of the four singers has a substantial amount of solo work, including songs such as "Minnie the Moocher," "Brother, Can You Spare a Dime," "A Nightingale Sang at Berkley Square" and Gershwin's "Fascinatin' Rhy-thm."
Auditions are by appointment. To make an appointment, contact director/music director John Leslie at (508) 826-0900 (yes, area code is correct!)
Performances of “The All Night Strut!” will be held Dec 1-16, 2006 at the Triton Hall Pavilion theater in Santa
Clara. Rehearsals will be in Santa Clara, Campbell, San Jose and/or Saratoga. Rehearsal schedule will be set to accommodate schedules of cast members and staff and still do right by the show.
Choreographers for the show include lead choreographer/ assistant director Geri Carlson Sauls, Carol Anne Haws, and Kim Saunders. Tabard is seeking non-AEA performers and a travel allowance is provided.
