Nancy Pyle honors care giver with commendation

San Jose City Councilmember Nancy Pyle honored District 10 resident Lillian M. Hill Woodward with a commendation from the city on Aug. 8 acknowledging Woodward’s heroic efforts in saving an elderly man’s life “Lillian has been a compassionate and dedicated resident in our District 10 community. This commendation is well deserved and represents her ongoing service to the elderly and those in need within our city.” Providing service to San Jose as a volunteer for Project Hired, Woodward has assisted injured people and individuals with disabilities to find work within their realm of capabilities. Her commitment to aiding the needy and elderly has also compelled her to pursue further certification as a Home Care Worker. Recognized by the San Jose Fire Department last year, Woodward played an integral role in saving an elderly man’s life as she administered CPR while the paramedics were on their way, resulting in saving the man’s life. When asked what drives her, she said her lifework is dedicated to the memory of her daughter, Melanie Woodward, who lost her life in 2006 after a long battle with cancer. Woodward is pictured above at the microphone with Mayor Chuck Reed and Pyle.
