Golf tournament to benefit troops set for Sept. 18
For the third year in a row, Iron Construction, Inc. will donate the proceeds from its Charity Golf Classic to the American Red Cross' Operation: Care and Comfort program.
The tournament will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 18, at the Cinnabar Hills Golf Club, 23600 McKean Road, San
Jose.
The Operation: Care and Comfort program provides support and comfort to over 200 “adopted” units of deployed U.S. military service members, serving in Iraq, Afghanistan, and conflict regions, by sending care packages containing needed items. The deployed units receive monthly shipments until they return home.
Operation: Care and Comfort then adopts another unit to take their place. Over the past two years, the Iron Construction Annual Charity Golf Classic has raised in excess of $58,500.00 for this all-volunteer program.
The public is invited to play in this fourth-annual charity golf event. A shotgun start is set for 12:30 p.m. The putting contest begins at 11:30 a.m. There will be other contest events on the course, including longest drive and closest to the pin.
The entry fee is $250 per player of which 50 percent is tax deductible. The fee includes 18 holes of golf, a cart, range balls, lunch, beverage cart service, gift bag and a dinner buffet at which prizes will be awarded.
To join this charity golf tournament, contact Mary Halley of Iron Construction at (408) 282-1080. The event is open to the first 216 entries. In addition to Iron Construction, sponsors include Frank-Lin Distillers Products, Ltd., Comerica Bank, Star One Credit Union, Alcal-Arcade Contracting, Inc., Golden West Collision Centers, Paine Financial and Insurance Services and B Metal Fabrication.
Additional sponsors are being actively sought, with different levels of sponsorships available.
