The San Jose City Council is meeting for the first time in a month this week. What do you think is the city’s most pressing problem or issue?
(Asked at the Almaden Center)
“I think downtown San Jose needs to be renovated. There are lots of daytime activities, I would like to see more nighttime activities, more things to do in the evening, so we don’t have to go to San Francisco for a night out.”
Megan Gailey, 40

“It’s hard to narrow it down and pick just one, but I think school funding; making sure the kids are getting what they need.”
Eileen Stein, 46

“It should be about school. Education is very important.”

“Education because I hear about more budget cuts for public schools and overcrowding in classes. I believe that education is the strongest foundation for life. If you want our children to be leaders then you need to give them the education to get them there.”

“Crime is number one, street repair number two and then poverty [according to my daughter].”

“Education because with all the government funding cutbacks, parents are paying more for their children’s education as well a school supplies, whether public or private. And now with gas prices going up and food prices rising, kids are going to suffer more.”
Cassandra Peters

“There needs to be enough affordable rental housing for people.”
