‘Who the heck is Steve Dini?’

Changes are afoot at the Times with staff writer Lorraine Gabbert’s baby boy due at the end of the month so we set out to find an interesting addition to our staff to fill in during Lorraine’s maternity leave. Our newest staff writer, Steve Dini (pictured at right), must have been reading our minds, because before we could even place an ad he contacted us for a “summer gig.” Steve brings humor, talent and a wealth of South Bay experience with him and we are happy to welcome him to our staff.

Born in San Francisco, raised in San Jose, Dini’s roots in the South Bay go deep. A graduate of Willow Glen High School and San Jose State University, Steve has lived quite an interesting life (so far).

After on-air stints at KICU TV 36 and KEZR Mix 106.5, Dini is now a full-time drama, speech and radio broadcasting teacher at Pioneer High School. Steve can still be seen and heard on commercials and has been known to take to the stage on occasion for benefit performances.

Steve and Sue, his wife of 35 years, have two grown sons and have lived in San Jose since 1969.
