San Jose Stage Company presents “Idols of The King” at the California Theater, 345 South First Street, San Jose. Scott Bruce is Elvis Presley circa 1956 in this musical tribute to the king of rock and roll. The “King” will shake, rattle, and roll again in this rockin’ new musical, performing hits like “Heartbreak Hotel,” “Jailhouse Rock” and “I Can’t Stop Loving You.” To prove their burning love for their idol, his diehard fans put on their blue suede shoes and head to Vegas for a concert. Sacred Heart Community Service needs teen or adult volunteers to tutor children grades 4 through 8 in mathematics, reading and computer skills, as well as accompanying students on weekly field trips at the Academic Summer Day Camp program. Tutors must be at least high school juniors and 16 years old. Adults and college students are welcome. High school sophomores may join with a recommendation letter from their high school principal. Camp is scheduled Monday, June 27 – Thursday, July 28 and runs from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. each weekday. Tutors are asked to volunteer one full week or one day per week.
