Street Talk by Shari Kaplan
What are your plans for the Fourth of July?
(Asked at Almaden Center)
“We’re going to do what we usually do: go to the old-fashioned July Fourth parade in Morgan Hill. This is our fourth year. We have three kids ages 2 to 9 and they all enjoy it. Then we drive back here and have a barbecue with the family.”

“This is the second time we’re going to ‘Larry’s Lobster Fest’ and pool party in San Jose. My boyfriend, his friend Larry, and another guy are all on a hockey team and they plan this together. They’re even having a live band this year, called Route 66.”

“I’ll give you a short answer: a party. It’s just a barbecue and get-together that we have occasionally with some neighbors and close friends. We just do whatever appeals to us.”

“We have some friends who live in the hills up off Harwood Road in Los Gatos and they invited us to come over and watch the fireworks. They didn’t say which ones, and I didn’t ask. I guess I’ll see on the 4th.”
Frank Deal, 55

“We’ll probably end up barbecuing or something. We haven’t really discussed it yet. We’ve both just been really busy lately.”
Sharon Hendley, 29

“Last year I was living on Telegraph Hill in San Francisco and we looked out past the Golden Gate Bridge from our master bedroom and watched the fireworks. This year, we’ve been invited to a backyard barbecue with friends and family.”
