Almaden Business Association Networking Mixer, Thursday, July 1


The Almaden Business Association will be holding another one of its popular “Mixers” on Thursday, July 1 at Baja Fresh, 1008 Blossom Hill Road (in the Wells Fargo mall across from Oakridge) from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The mixer will feature a “Meet & Greet” with special guest Don Gage, Santa Clara County Supervisor.

Save the date, Nov. 14, for dinner honoring Vice Mayor Pat Dando

Members of the San Jose Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce, San Jose Fire Fighters Local 230 San Jose Police Officers Association, Association of Retired San Jose Police Officers and Fire Fighters and will be sponsoring “An Evening of Celebration Honoring San Jose Vice Mayor Pat Dando” on Sunday, Nov. 14. Dando will be termed out as District 10’s councilmember and Vice Mayor at the end of the year.

The event will be held at the Downtown San Jose Marriott, 301 South Market Street at San Carlos and will begin at 5 p.m. The event will be a fundraiser for a several charities listed on invitations slated to be sent out in September. LDS congregation hosts July 4th speech contest

The Almaden First Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is hosting a local speech contest to commemorate the Fourth of July.

The event will be held July 2 at the chapel, 6625 Camden Avnue. Its purpose is to bring to the attention of families and the community the blessing and opportunity to live in America and to express gratitude, support and enthusiasm for being part of the United States of America.

The contest, whose topic is “Why I Love America,” is open to children ages 10 to 17 who live in AlmadenValley. Divided into four age groups, participants will include current fifth and sixth grade students, seventh and eighth grade students, ninth and tenth grade students and eleventh and twelfth grade students.

Cash prizes will be awarded to two winners in each age group. The winners need to be present on July 3 at a morning patriotic assembly and breakfast to present their speech and receive their award.
