San Jose Repertory Theatre presents Avner the Eccentric in “Exceptions to Gravity.” This wonderful family show features Avner, an indescribable one-man disaster who will make you smile with his unique brand of humor. Bethel Church, 1201 S. Winchester Blvd presents “Celebrate America – I Pledge My Allegiance” Featuring The Voices of Bethel (our 100-voice choir) and The Bethel Orchestra, Multimedia and Audience Participation. Performance times are 7 p.m. on 6/25 and 10 a.m. on 6/26. Admission is free, general seating. Doors will open approximately one hour before each performance. CineLux Theatres invites kids and their families to spend summer mornings at the movies for their annual Free Family Film Festival. The festival kicks-off with shows starting at 10 a.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Seating is first-come-first-serve. Participating theatres include the Plaza 4 Theatre at 2501 Winchester Boulevard in Campbell. The film festival runs through August 2005. Join Dr. Shirley Reekie at Lexington Reservoir County Park from 9 a.m. to noon as she provides free instruction on the basics of kayaking. Kayaks will be provided for participants ages 16 and older. Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and everyone must be able to swim at least 100 yards. There is also a weight limit of 250 pounds. Sacred Heart Community Service needs teen or adult volunteers to tutor children grades 4 through 8 in mathematics, reading and computer skills, as well as accompanying students on weekly field trips at the Academic Summer Day Camp program. Tutors must be at least high school juniors and 16 years old. Adults and college students are welcome. High school sophomores may join with a recommendation letter from their high school principal. Camp is scheduled Monday, June 27 – Thursday, July 28 and runs from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. each weekday. Tutors are asked to volunteer one full week or one day per week. History Park San Jose will present “Macau - Universal Heritage,” a photographic exhibition of 52 vibrant images featuring Macau’s historical architecture. The exhibit is open Tuesdays through Sundays, 12 to 5 p.m. The photographs focus on buildings and sites presented by the People’s Republic of China to UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) in a proposal for Macau’s classification as a World Heritage site.

The Tech Museum’s “Conversations with the Future” Series kicks off with a discussion from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. lead by Baroness Susan Greenfield, the first female Head of the Royal Institute and world-renowned Oxford Professor. Her discussion will be about: “Tomorrow’s People: How future technology is changing the way we think and feel.” A cocktail reception begins at 6 p.m., with the presentation running from 7 -8:30 p.m. General admission is $35, Tech member admission is $25, and student admission is $10.
